Entry requirements for Bangladesh
You must have a visa to visit Bangladesh for up to 3 months unless you have a 'no visa required' stamp in your UK passport.
Your passport must have at least 2 blank pages and no damage to enter Bangladesh.
You may be able to apply for a visa on arrival at Dhaka airport, which requires a return ticket and proof of funds, but it is a single entry visa valid for 15 to 30 days and is not guaranteed.
When you arrive, make sure you get an entry stamp in your passport as immigration officers will check it when you leave and you could be fined for overstaying.
At border control you may also need to show a return or onward ticket.
Good to know:
If you are travelling with foreign currency or Bangladeshi taka, you may need to declare it depending on the amount.
You must have a yellow fever vaccination certificate if you are arriving from a country listed as a transmission risk.
Safety in Bangladesh
Bangladesh is tourist-friendly but has some key cultural and legal rules:
Be alert when using your phone in public and do not carry large amounts of cash or wear expensive-looking jewellery.
Avoid using rickshaws, taxis, buses, or trains alone, especially at night, due to a high risk of violent crime and robbery.
To reduce the risk of methanol poisoning, only drink alcohol from licensed venues and avoid black-market sources.
Dress modestly in public to avoid offence, with women covering their shoulders and legs.
Keep copies of your passport and visa separately from the originals, as local officials may ask for ID.

Check bus, shop, and restaurant opening hours during Ramadan and be aware that fasting can cause local tiredness.

Health in Bangladesh

It is recommended to consult your doctor or a travel clinic well in advance of your trip to discuss necessary vaccinations and health precautions.
