Entry requirements for Thailand
You can visit Thailand for tourism for 60 days, and this visa can be extended for another 30 days.
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date and have at least one blank page.
You must complete a digital arrival card online up to 3 days before arriving in Thailand, effective from 1 May 2025.
If you overstay your visa, you face a daily fine and risk detention, deportation, or a re-entry ban.
Dual nationals should leave Thailand using the same passport they used to enter to avoid immigration problems.
Good to know:
If you are travelling from a yellow fever transmission risk country, you must have a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate to enter Thailand.
It is illegal to take more than 200 cigarettes per person into Thailand, and going over the limit risks a large fine and confiscation.
Safety in Thailand
Thailand is tourist-friendly but has some key cultural and legal rules:
Be aware that drink spiking and drug-assisted assaults happen in tourist areas, so never leave your drinks unattended or accept drinks from strangers.
Do not hand over your passport as a guarantee to rental businesses like those for jet-skis, as they may keep it for claimed damage.
Take extra care when swimming, especially off beaches during the monsoon season, and always follow lifeguard warnings and red flag systems.
If you are driving, you must carry both the 1968 international driving permit and your UK licence, or your insurance will be invalid.
Carry your valuables securely, beware of bag-snatchers on motorbikes, and avoid sleeping on public transport to prevent theft.

Alcohol sales are restricted from midnight to 11am, so be cautious about buying or drinking in public during these hours to avoid a fine.
Smoking in public places is illegal with fines up to 5,000 baht, and possessing or using any e-cigarette or vape device can lead to heavy fines and detention.
