Entry requirements for Barbados
You do not need a visa to visit Barbados for a tourist stay.
Your passport must be valid for the planned length of your stay in Barbados.
You must fill in an immigration and customs form online before you arrive in Barbados.
You must be able to show proof of an onward or return ticket to enter Barbados.
You must have a yellow fever vaccination certificate if you are arriving from a country listed as a transmission risk.
Good to know:
If you are aged 2 years or older, you must pay a departure tax of 55 Barbados dollars, which is often included in your airline ticket price.
There are strict customs rules, and you must declare any goods that may be prohibited or subject to tax or duty on arrival.
Safety in Barbados
Barbados is tourist-friendly but has some key cultural and legal rules:
Avoid isolated areas, including beaches, particularly after dark.
Only use licensed taxis and agree the fare in Barbados dollars with the driver before you set off.
Take particular care around large gatherings, including street and beach parties, especially after dark or during the festival season.
Do not carry large amounts of cash or wear expensive-looking jewellery.
Take great care when swimming as currents can be deceptively strong on some popular beaches.

Health in Barbados
While Barbados provides free or subsidised healthcare to its citizens, as a tourist, you are not eligible for this. Ensure you have comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical expenses, including repatriation, should you need it. Although the UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) are primarily for EU countries, it's always wise to carry them. However, these are not a substitute for travel insurance.
No vaccinations required
Visit your doctor well in advance of your trip to discuss any necessary vaccinations or preventative measures. Mosquito-borne diseases are present in Barbados, so take precautions to avoid mosquito bites, such as using insect repellent, wearing long sleeves and trousers, and staying in air-conditioned accommodation. The tap water is generally safe to drink, but bottled water is readily available if you prefer.
