When renting or using a vehicle within Bosnia and Herzegovina, you must also carry the 1968 version of the international driving permit.

Between November and April, your car must have winter tyres with a specific tread depth, and you must carry snow chains.

It's illegal to drive without at least third-party insurance, which you can purchase at specific border crossings if your own is invalid.
