Do not resist if threatened by thieves or robbers, who may be armed, and hand over your valuables immediately.
Always carry a copy of your passport and another form of photo ID with you.
Pay attention to warning flags and consult lifeguards before swimming due to strong currents and shark dangers, especially near Recife.
