You can visit Chile for up to 90 days without a visa.

Your passport must be valid for the duration of your stay in Chile.

Pickpocketing, mugging and theft from vehicles are very common, especially at airports, tourist sites, and bus stations.

Taxi scams at Santiago Airport can involve drivers charging vastly inflated fares or manipulating card machines, so only book and pay for official taxis from inside the terminal before exiting.

Keep your valuables and passport in a hotel safe, and do not leave bags hanging on chairs or phones on tables in cafes and restaurants.

Do not resist any attempted mugging and hand over your cash and valuables immediately to avoid violence.

Do not drink alcohol in public places like streets, squares or promenades as it is illegal.

Always carry a printed copy of the photo page of your passport with you.

Be wary of drink spiking in nightclubs and bars, particularly in the Suecia and Bellavista areas of Santiago.
