Entry requirements for Gibraltar
British nationals do not need a visa to enter Gibraltar for tourism for stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
Your passport must have been issued within the last 10 years and be valid for at least 3 months after the day you intend to leave Gibraltar or the Schengen Area.
You must expect two sets of immigration checks on arrival at Gibraltar airport, one by Gibraltar authorities and one by Spanish Schengen authorities.
Any time you spend in Gibraltar counts towards the 90-day limit alongside time spent in the wider Schengen Area.
You can move freely across the land border into Spain and the Schengen Area once you have cleared the entry checks at the airport.
Good to know:
If you travel with children aged 17 or under who are not your own, carry signed letters of parental consent.
From 15 July 2026, you will need to declare certain goods to customs officers on arrival at Gibraltar airport.

Entry Requirements
Passports must now be issued within the last 10 years and be valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended date of departure from Gibraltar or the Schengen Area.
The previous requirement was simply that your passport be valid for the duration of your stay.
British nationals can now stay visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period for tourism, business, or study.
Any time spent in Gibraltar will count towards the 90-day Schengen Area limit.
From 15 July 2026, Gibraltar’s entry conditions for short-stay visitors will align with Schengen rules.
On arrival at the airport, you will undergo two separate immigration checks: one by Gibraltar authorities and one by Spanish authorities for Schengen entry.
These checks will include registration under the Entry/Exit System (EES). The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) will also apply once operational.
From 15 July 2026, Gibraltar will form a new customs model with the EU to avoid checks at the land border with Spain.
This means you will need to declare certain goods to customs officers upon arrival at Gibraltar airport.
