Entry requirements for Réunion

You can visit Réunion without a visa for up to 90 days for tourism or business.

Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months after the date you plan to leave Réunion.

You will be denied entry if you do not have a valid travel document or use a reported lost or stolen passport.

If you are a UK resident of Réunion, carry your residence document and passport when entering or exiting.

There are strict rules about goods you can take into or out of Réunion, so you must declare anything that may be prohibited or subject to tax or duty.

Good to know:

You cannot take meat, milk or products containing them into Réunion, with exceptions for powdered baby milk, baby food and special foods or pet feed required for medical reasons.

You must declare any cash and valuables you bring into Réunion if required.

Safety in Réunion

Réunion is tourist-friendly but has some key cultural and legal rules:

Follow advice from local authorities or your tour operator about which beaches are safe due to shark attacks.

When scuba diving, always ask to see a dive operator's credentials and check their safety equipment looks to be in good condition.

If you have no previous diving experience, check what to do if something goes wrong, including how to call for help while at sea.

French driving rules apply, so check the local driving regulations and legal requirements if you plan to drive.

The cyclone season normally runs from December to April, so monitor local news and follow advice from the local authorities during this time.

Bonus tips:

Check with local authorities or your car hire company if you need an international driving permit as well as your UK driving licence.

Make sure oxygen is available on the dive boat and ask about safety precautions, including the ability to transfer divers to a hyperbaric chamber.
